2000年、北海道大学農学部農業経済学科卒業。2007年、米国コーネル大学で応用経済学の博士号（Ph.D.）を取得。香港科技大学社会科学部助教授、アジア経済研究所研究員、早稲田大学政治経済学術院准教授を経て、2025年4月から現職。これまで、国際学術誌の「Food Policy」や「Journal of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association」、国内学術誌の「農業経済研究」や「The Japanese Journal of Agricultural Economics」などの編集委員も務める。専門は農業経済学、開発経済学、食料政策。

I am currently a professor in the Faculty of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University. My research interests are in the areas of agricultural economics, development economics, and food policy centering on issues involving food consumption behavior and agricultural markets. I received my Ph.D. in Applied Economics (2007) and M.S. in Agricultural Economics (2003) from Cornell University, and a B.S. in Agriculture (2000) from Hokkaido University. Prior to joining Waseda University, I spent eight years as an assistant professor at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST), and a year as a research fellow at the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO). I have also served as an editorial board member for multiple journals, including Food Policy, Journal of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, and the Japanese Journal of Agricultural Economics.
