My research focuses on issues arising from the interactions among food, poverty, health, and the environment. For example, I have analyzed the consequences of food-related policies such as food safety labels, dietary guidelines for the environment, dietary education for obesity prevention, and food price subsidies for the poor. Most recently, I have been investigating how ideas from behavioral economics can augment strategies to help people choose healthier and more sustainable diets.
